This is our story. It might not be exciting to some, but we think it is THRILLING... most of the time. Life is flying by too fast and this is our attempt to stop and capture the good nuggets in our lives. You may notice a trend in these posts... it may have to do with our favorite little nuggets currently sitting center stage in everything we do, think, and live.

Hope you enjoy and leave a comment or two!

Memorial Day at Kent Haven

Fresh off an awesome visit with Pop Pop and Mee-ma, we jumped in the car and headed to the beach to see Grantudy, Gramps, Aaron, Anna, and Lucy!  I have been waiting, somewhat impatiently, all spring for the sunshine and sand that Kent Haven brings!

Saturday morning we took the 3-4 ritual trips down to the beach lugging the huge tent, a half dozen beach chairs, floats, life jackets, and a bucket full of toys... not to mention towels and enough snacks to last a week.

It was really the kiddies first romp in the river.  Though they got a small taste of it last year, this year they were mobile.  We expected lots of romping, but the water got old for Lucy and she spent her time on the swings. Chase was a little too OCD for the sand at first and it took some coaxing to get him into the swing if things.... but my boy did venture out into the very cold water with his Mama!

Though I think the dinner on shore stole the show for Chase.  Once it arrived, he didn't care about the sand or the water once the digger arrived.  He was in awe.

Part of the beach ritual is heading to Scoop de'ville for ince cream.  The kiddies made a point to sit together and size up each other's ice cream.

The food didn't stop there.  Kevin was out short order cook all weekend.  Seriously, he cooked EVERY meal.  We were treated to so many delicious meals, never mind that bacon was a predominate part of every dish.  What can I say, my man likes his bacon!

Though it has only been a few weeks since the cousins last saw one another, there were slight changes... they started to play with one another.  Little moments of sharing and connecting turned into major mischief as their little stubby feel ran down the hall and into rooms behind closed doors.  We would hear them giggling and when we opened the door we would find then wiggling on the floor if rummaging though our suitcases.  As independent and boisterous as Chase is, he is putty in Lulu's hands.  Whatever Lucy does, Chase has to do.  Including exploring the hose while Anna was watering the garden.  Big smiles and shocked expressions as they each dared each other to jump into the freezing cold spray!  It was pure joy.

Uncle Aaron, who we affectionately call "Uncle Dude" (since it was easier), turned up the fun by building Chase the most incredible towers, planes, and cars out of duplus.  All those years in the basement tinkering with 1,000s of lego has finally paid off.  Uncle Dude is at the top of Chase's list.

Some of the best moments were also the simplest.  Story time with Grantudy and Gramps is always a winner.

Here's to many more weekends with family just like this one.
