It was important to begin the special traditions that we all remember from our childhood, so Aaron wrote a note to Santa from the tots, just to make sure they were on the right list, and we gathered just a few of the 200 dozen cookies we had made. We arranged the cookies on a plate with our note under the tree ...
Chase was not winning any points by trying to eat Santa's cookies....

Trying to get a shot of both the cousins proved quite futile. Chase wouldn't sit still, and Lucy was mezmorized by Chase's hair .... and had to have it!
We put the babies to bed with as much excitement as kids ourselves. The excitement was papable.
Christmas morning came and
First, the reindeer had to deliver the gifts.
I am not kidding, this child LOVES to put things on his head. He wore them all weekend... including during bathtime.
One of the favorite gifts of the year were Chase's pots and pans. Both Chase and Lucy loved them.
The room filled with brightly colored toys, wrapping paper shredded like confetti, and loads of love. It was so fun to have Christmas with littles.
Uncle Aaron felt it was important to teach his young nephew the power of the force, so the gift giving frenzy took a break for a light saber duel.
Nothing says Christmas morning family picture like a glowing light saber....
Merry Christmas to my beautiful family.
The rest of the day was spent in our pajamas. I mean, our MATCHING pajamas.
We take our Christmas seriously. No one is allowed to work too hard. You must stay in your pajamas, drink copious amounts of coffee, and eat your weight in Christmas cookies.
The house was chaos with two tiny tots, but it was joyful and playful. Chase became a little too playful while dragging a dog leash around the house when he slipped and fell, catching himself with his face.... on the floor.
I saw it happen, but I couldn't get to him fast enough. The blood gushed everywhere and I remained calm as we all huddled to see how bad it was. Chase had busted both lips open and the swelling began immediately. The blood I handled, but swelling plus blood, I lost it- we were both crying. Once we determined that we were not going to be those people in the ER on Christmas, things calmed down and Chase went back to hamming it up, fat lips and all...
It was an incredible Christmas and another one that will be etched in my memory for all time. We are so lucky have have such amazing families. My cup is full. Merry Christmas.
