We didn't have time to miss all the Christmas fun, since we all gathered again to celebrate Gramps' swearing in as a new judge in the Court of Common Pleas in Chester County, PA.
But first, we had to bid farewell to an amazingly-fantastic 2011 and welcome in 2012; which is sure to get even better!
I was quite sick, so we decided on a quiet New Years with Grantudy and Gramps up in PA. As per tradition, We bought balloons to let off at midnight to carry our wishes into the new year. Chase had different plans for the balloons. Gramps carried in the big bunch and that boy was enthralled! He loved on those "boons" for hours of fun!
It wasn't long before the balloons were so tangled up, that we couldn't get them apart- or get them our of two tightly grasped hands!
We left some toys from Christmas so Chase could be surprised all over again. The trucks are a big hit.
Sarah and Tracy came over for dinner and to help us ring in the new year. It was a low key night playing with Chase, trading childhood stories, planning our futures, and being thankful for long lasting friendship. It was a great night, but alas, we were all in bed by 10:30.
The big day had finally arrived and we all joined my dad, on the coldest day this winter, to celebrate an accomplishment leaving us beaming with pride. We listened to his old partner speak of his honestly, humility, commitment, and passion for fairness of the law. The tots were a bit squirmy, but with some animal crackers, toys, and a bit of creativity, they made it though surprisingly well.
Mom held Dad's bible while he was sworn in, and as a family, we passed his robe to her placing it on his shoulders. Dad looked great in his robes- like an old pro! There might have been some stifled laughs because, like my father, we never take ourselves too seriously!
The Honerable Mark L. Tunnell then took his seat among the others as the newest Chester County Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.

After dad got left the bench, Chase ran up to his Gramps with a big congratulations hug!
After the ceremony we attended a reception in dad's honor. At this point the tots had behaved enough, and chaos ensured. Chase was the life of the party- bound and determined to toast anyone who would "cheers" with him. What a ham!
