This is our story. It might not be exciting to some, but we think it is THRILLING... most of the time. Life is flying by too fast and this is our attempt to stop and capture the good nuggets in our lives. You may notice a trend in these posts... it may have to do with our favorite little nuggets currently sitting center stage in everything we do, think, and live.

Hope you enjoy and leave a comment or two!

Deep breath, be brave, baby's first day of school

Ok, so it really isn't school and I kinda think it's dumb that parents call it school when the baby drools, poops, and sleeps all day, but it felt like the first day of school.

I had counted down the days and hours to this moment.  I don't know if I counted with excitement or dread.  I didn't sleep the night before.  See, most parents will tell you it is heartbreaking to go back to work and send their precious baby to daycare, but my baby cries 23.5 hours a day and so I nervously type the following words....  I was kinda happy not unhappy.  No, I really wasn't happy to leave my baby at daycare.  We thought we had picked out the very best woman to watch our beloved nugget, but of course I was nervous and scared to leave him.  I would be lying if I said I didn't worry about SIDS in a different crib, or chocking, or being trampled by wild 2-year-olds.  Or maybe I was scared they would kick him our for screaming for 8 straight hours?

But, we had two good "run though" days last week.  Captain Colic hadn't scared them away yet.  Our daycare is a home based daycare run by a sweet lady Eliana, known at Nana to the kids.  Nana is the right mix of loving, playful, and gentle, mixed with a dash of discipline and parenting.  I really hope we picked the right place.

I dropped him off this morning and spent a while allowing him me to adjust before leaving.  Nana texted me throughout the day as she promised.  Something tells me she has been through the "nervous first day/week" jitters a time or two.  She sent me some pictures of Chase sleeping in the swing!

When we picked him up he seemed to be a bit congested which sent my mommy radar up.  We called the pediatrician and then asked us to come in.  The doctor did a blood draw (it was awful), and inserted a catheter for a urine sample. Chase was given a antibiotic to be safe while the tests come back, but thinks it is probably a cold.  We'll know within two days if he has any sort of infection. But in the meantime, we are dosing Tylenol, running the humidifier and using the the boogie sucker.

We have a follow up appointment later this week and will be discussing reflux again as well.  I am convinced we need to change his meds.

So, we survived day one and brought home a new friend.  Mr. Cold.  Hopefully Chase won't be bringing home many more of these types of "friends" again anytime soon.

Oh, and amidst all the excitement and Chaos, I forgot to mention today is Daddy's birthday!  We will be celebrating both our birthday's this weekend!
