This is our story. It might not be exciting to some, but we think it is THRILLING... most of the time. Life is flying by too fast and this is our attempt to stop and capture the good nuggets in our lives. You may notice a trend in these posts... it may have to do with our favorite little nuggets currently sitting center stage in everything we do, think, and live.

Hope you enjoy and leave a comment or two!

He's an angel with retractable horns

This is our second trip to the doctor this week.  Why?  Because I need to fix the screaming.  When I called the doctor they asked what was wrong.  I wanted to tell them the baby was frozen in the "screaming really loud" setting.  Seriously, I didn't know what to tell them.  He won't stop crying and though you already told me he has colic, you need to look at him again and tell me how to fix it.
So we go in for a second time.  Do you know what the doctor told me? "Chase is beautiful and is doing great ... and probably has colic."  Duh! I know he has colic. The neighbors know he has colic.  My car's gas bill can even tell you that he has colic.  HOW DO I FIX HIM???!!!

I have spent the majority of each day driving around Northern Virginia to get this child to sleep or just stop to WAILING!!!  I have memorized every store in the mall and I am on a first name basis the manager at Target (who probably hates us for scaring all the customers away).  This child will not sleep, let alone stop crying without so sort of forward momentum.  So much for staying home with a new baby and resting.  We are either driving or walking in the stroller.  How am I supposed to "sleep when my baby sleeps" since he only sleeps while I am operating heavy machinery!

The doctor mentioned that Chase probably has a case of reflux and meds might help with discomfort (a.k.a. -drugs might stop the crying).

Sign me up.

Reflux meds tasted like peppermint schnapps.  It was 20% alcohol and flavored with peppermint to unsuccessfully mask the taste (WTH?  Baby can have booz and I cannot?  This is not happening).  Side note- peppermint flavor... what 4 week old likes that crap?!

Reflux meds were a big fail.  We later learned we could get the meds custom made at a compounding pharmacy. Alcohol free marshmallow flavored meds.  big win.  Though I don't know if the meds are helping yet.

Also this week, Aunt Megan and Uncle Andy came to meet Chase and spend time with us.  It was beautiful weather so we took them to our favorite Breaux Vineyards.  Of course.  This 2.5 week old has been to the wineries more times than Babies R Us. Haha.  We sat outside, drank wine, and enjoyed our sleeping cherub.

Chase stayed happy enough for Megan and Andy to have some quality snuggling time with our little nugget.  We hit the outlets to do some shopping for our little man and Aunt Megan bought Chase the CUTEST pumpkin hat!  It even made his screaming kinda cute!  Picture super-market sweep type shopping and we had to keep the nugget moving at all times as we navigated crowded stores!

The visit was over too soon and Megan and Andy promised to visit again soon.  See you all at Christmas!
