This is our story. It might not be exciting to some, but we think it is THRILLING... most of the time. Life is flying by too fast and this is our attempt to stop and capture the good nuggets in our lives. You may notice a trend in these posts... it may have to do with our favorite little nuggets currently sitting center stage in everything we do, think, and live.

Hope you enjoy and leave a comment or two!

The dentist, with a side of bribery

This was a busy week.  Both kids had milestone check-ups and Chase visited the dentist.  We went once before, about a year ago, but this was the start of his regular visits.

I did a lot of prep before our visit, practicing opening his mouth, looking with a flashlight, touching his teeth with my fingers and talking about going to the dentist.  He seemed stoked.  Just fan the fires of excited a bit more, Chase and I started the day with an extra special breakfast date at IHOP.

Chase loved the make-a-face pancake, and decorated it with yogurt, strawberries, and bananas.  All the while we were talking about the dentist.  I thought we were ready.  I was wrong.

Chase did fine up until the assistant walked him in the room.  Then he cowered in the corner.  I felt bad, but didn't let him see me sweat.  I just reassured him that he was safe and everything was fine, but he is a big boy now that he's 3 and we go to the dentist so she can "count our teeth" (couldn't come up with anything better).

After some bribery (with a video) and some threats (of turning off the video), he begrudging opened his mouth and let them poke around.  There was NO WAY he was letting them get anywhere close to him with any of the cleaning devices that make noise.  It he could cling to the ceiling, he would have.  So we settled for brushing with his new toothbrush, and looking with the mirror.  We called it a success and left with a balloon, stickers, and our pride in tact.
