Chase has really surprised us. We thought we would face a lot of jealous and acting out, but over 2 weeks into life with a baby sister, he is adjusting so extremely well.
Since the day we brought Whitney home, whenever she cries, Chase stops what he is doing and looks her in direction. Then looking in our direction, he says in his most concerned voice, "Oh oh, Winny cry-yin." Then he throws a finger up in the air and says, "I know, I know.... her needs a toy-ya." and runs to get something for her. It is usually a car or truck, but sometimes it is fake food. Nothing says, "it's ok baby sister" like a chicken cutlet laid gently on your face. But, it is so so sweet and makes me so proud at the possibility that we are raising compassionate little humans.
Chase likes to keep an eye on her and we found it so cute when he
slowly inched closer and closer to her doing tummy time until he was saddled
right up next to her watching a show and checking in on HIS baby.
As expected, Whitney brought him a gift when she arrived. It was a no-brainer for her to pick out the BIGGEST fire truck she could find. Chase was so thrilled by it that he asked if Whitney could play trucks with him and she got the dump truck. Only a few days old and already being baptized by trucks!
