I had Chase's costume figured out over a month ago. I knew I wanted to make him a costume. Partly because sometimes the mommy guilt is suffocating and I feel guilty for not staying home with him, or feeding him all organic food, or letting him eat just cheerios for dinner. You name it, I I have felt guilty about it.
But the main reason I wanted to make his costume is because my mom made ours. Every year. It helps that she was a home ec major in college, but really, I have very fond memories of the pride she felt making our very creative costumes and the pride I felt wearing them. When we got older we helped in the creative process and design and it is one of my favorite childhood memories.
So I struck out to make Chase's costume. I knew I wanted something simple and cheap and absolutely wearable since little man needs to be comfortable in order not to rip it all apart. After a little internet search, I thought I had the perfect costume. A quick trip to Walmart, and $5.76 later we were in business.
Meet Skinny Smurf!
A pair of tights, a quick blue dye job and a some felt and we are feeling pretty smurf-y!
I loved it... and I think he did too!
We didn't any Trick-or-Treating this year, but we did masquerade as a smurf during our regular evening stroll (I had to add the trick or treat bag of course for effect!).

Bag was a hand me down of Uncle Aaron's. Handmade by Grandtudy of course

Chase: Isn't this so exciting! Roxie: Thrilling.

We are going to have to teach him that he'll have to STOP at the houses in order to get the candy.
Chase loved running down the stairs with us to hand out the candy and got very excited to see all the kids at our door. It was a great Halloween and we can't wait for next year.
