Last week, my dad (Gramps) was elected judge to the Count of Common Pleas in Chester County, PA. It has been a 2+ year process and grueling campaign. We were so thrilled with the win and so exited to celebrate such a happy occasion when Grandtudy and Gramps came down to visit this weekend!
We also had huge plans for the basement. When we moved in, it was in pretty sorry shape. The walls were scuffed and had never been painted, and the carpeting was stained.

A couple months ago we replaced the outdated crappy lighting with recessed lighting. It was such a neat project to learn and left me wanting more. After getting new carpet throughout the house a few weeks ago, we were inspired. So we decided to install board and batton. Gramps came to the rescue with the right tools and we got to work. The project went pretty quickly, which was quite the surprise since I would not have called my dad "handy" growing up. Where did his skills come from! We did hit a snag by running out of materials and had to call about 6 Lowes to track down more lumber. After a long trip to Maryland to get the rest of the lumber we completed the project in one weekend. Though the picture below is not quite the "finished" product without a coat of paint, I think it came together quite well. In fact, I think the basement is quickly becoming my favorite room in the house!

looking much more cozy. just needs a bit of paint.
Grandtudy and Chase played most of the weekend and made some turkey cookies for Thanksgiving. Someone loved his first bit of sugary frosting covered cookies and SHOVED the whole thing in his mouth.

How many cookies did you give him Grantudy??
It was quite a busy weekend, but it wasn't through quite yet. I had secretly made a last minute call to the cake lady who made Chase's birthday cake and she came though bit time. In just a few days notice she whipped up a gavel shaped cake to celebrate the BIG WIN!

That's "The Honerable Gramps" to you!
