One year ago we found out I had miscarried. We were going to the doctor for our 10 week appointment to hear a heartbeat that wouldn't come. We were devastated. I was numb with pain. Nothing could have prepared us for the deep sadness. And those few sentences are all I will allow myself to spend on that pain, because we are the luckiest family in the world.
We tried for a new baby as soon as I was given the green light.
Today, I look down at this amazing gift and know there is no one on earth more blessed than Kevin and me. He may not sleep much, and cries a LOT, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I didn't know I could love something so much. I didn't know I could cry tears of joy just by looking in those tiny deep blue eyes. Life is good.
We celebrated more good news tonight with the engagement of our good friends Jenna and Matt. We adore Jenna and are so thrilled that such a lucky man has found her! Chase enjoyed the festivities and actually took a pacifier for once.
He has been spending more time cooing and less time crying. We are DELIGHTED that he has decided to try to use his vocal cords for good and not evil. The sound of his coos send goose bumps down my arms. They are the most delicious and happy sounds this momma could ever hear. When he lets out a coo, we freeze in place, look at each other and giggle like little kids. Love.
