This is our story. It might not be exciting to some, but we think it is THRILLING... most of the time. Life is flying by too fast and this is our attempt to stop and capture the good nuggets in our lives. You may notice a trend in these posts... it may have to do with our favorite little nuggets currently sitting center stage in everything we do, think, and live.

Hope you enjoy and leave a comment or two!

Grantudy to the rescue!

Chase is about 7 weeks old and we are about 4 weeks into Colic.  It was time to call in reinforcements.  With Kevin back at work and me deep in the trenches of the WOC "War On Colic," I was starting to lose ground and become over-run by the sheer dominance of a 9 lbs, drooling, crying, mess.

Friday afternoon, I literally watched the clock tick away while bouncing, cooing ,and shhhh-ing a colic-melt-down waiting for my mom to arrive and make it all better.  Isn't it amazing.  Hardly fresh out of the gates on my own mommyhood, I have a lot to learn about being a mom... but the one thing I know for sure, is that there is a special power all moms have in "making it all better."  Whether it was a skinned knee from a fall, a bad grade on a test, a broken heart after a break-up, or a crying baby who can't seem to find his happy button.... moms always make it all better.  So here I stood in milk stained pajamas, dirty hair, no make-up, baby in arms, sweat dripping down my face... waiting.  bouncing and waiting. She will make it all better.  And she did.

Not only did she make it better.  She made my precious, angry, screaming son SMILE.  It was A-MAZING!!  A moment I will never forget.  October 8th, 2011, baby Chase looked up at his mommy and grandmommy and smiled.  He smiled for his daddy too.  But don't worry.... there was still LOTS of crying.

It was a beautiful weekend so we ventured out to Breaux vineyards.  This might have been Chase's 2nd visit there since birth.  That is more times that he has been to Babies R' Us... but who's counting.  We sat under a tent looking out on the beautiful day with a beautiful baby in our arms.  It is incredible how life has a way of being so perfect.  I had a few sips of delicious wine and calmed my frazzled nerves while Grantudy held and rocked and fed our little man.  They couldn't take their eyes off each other.

Sunday we took a LONG drive out to an apple picking orchard.  We didn't mind the hour+ ride since it ensured a good nap from our only-sleeps-while-riding-in-the-car dramababy.  We pushed the stroller up the nobby rows of apple trees determined to have a good time.  We loaded up on fresh apples to make cobbler and homemade applesauce at home.  Despite the risk of a colic meltdown, we braved a very long line for apple cider donuts.  Heaven on earth.  We loaded back into the car and ate a dozen hot apple cider donuts while a baby wailed in the back... and it was glorious! HA!

Thank you for all your help, love, and support Grantudy!
