When Whitney gave us her first smile today, we cheered so loudly that Chase wanted to get in on the action. He has been taking every opportunity to make her smile.... from belly raspberries or tiny tickles. For the most part he knows to be gentle, but when he sees that tiny "Winny smile" .... he can get a bit excited... and a bit aggressive. It is so darn cute!
We also took our first trip with both kids up to Philly to see Grantudy and Gramps. They both did really great thought Whitney was a bit more unsettled then her usually happy self. All in all, it was a success.
Part of the trip was to take the kids to Grantudy's school for part of the child development class for the students to observe different ages and stages. Whitney was definitely the youngest at just 6.5 weeks old! Afterwards we popped over to the court house so Judge Gramps could show off. It was more than a little surprise when Chase ran into Gramps arms in front of all the court staff with a soaking wet bottom. It was hilarious to see Gramps' face melt when his brain connected the "wetness" on his arm, but I quickly assured him that it was a juice box disaster in the car seat and not "something else." hahah!
Both Gramps and Chase delighted in playing with Gramps' "hammer" in his courtroom. Gramps donned his robes for the full effect!
The next day we we all headed to the zoo. I was surprised how nice the Philly zoo was. There was so much to see and being a Friday it wasn't too crowded. We took our time and Chase just loved it-- especially the giraffes.
We still can't get over how well Chase is doing with Whitney. He doesn't just tolerate her, he loves her and seeks her out to interact-- sometimes a little too much. We were hanging out at G&G's house when we heard, "look mommy, I'm sharing..." Yep, so nice of you to share toys... but let's not share them on Whitney's face.
The rest of the weekend we got outside to enjoy the nice weather. We hit up the local park. I gotta say, I love a man who rocks the baby bjorn! Chase also saw some people fishing, so he helped himself to a stick and did some "fishing" for himself. So creative.
