To round out a very fun and blessed year, we headed to Richmond to see Aaron, Anna, Lucy, Grandtudy, and Gramps. We didn't have any particular plans. We just wanted to snuggle down and enjoy the last few hours of 2012... and ring in a new and exciting year. The year we welcome our little Spicy girl and expand the joy in our family.
There was a little cloud over our family going into this weekend and our beloved Grammy has gotten sicker. Unfortunately that cloud turned into a storm cloud as Grammy passed on New Years Eve. It is so hard to watch your parents grieve. We kept the overly observant monkeys away as Grantudy and Gramps grieved and planned Grammy's final celebration. There was still a lot of love, as like our family is so good at doing... we spent some time laughing and sharing our favorite memories of our dear dear Grammy.
I come from a long line of strong, committed, (hard headed), women. Grammy's work ethic will forever be passed down in the women in this family. I remember in her later years helping me DIY an upholstered headboard... sweating in the summer heat, using a jig saw to cut the boards and a staple gun to add the fabric! She also epitomized style always dressed to the 9's for every occasion. Kevin's favorite memory was just after we started dating, she walked off the plane for a week at the outerbanks in a navy worsted wool suit complete with matching scarf and ruby red lip stick. The women never left her house without that ruby red lipstick. Love her forever!
