So on this very cold morning, we joined thousands of volunteers to lay wreaths on the tombstones of our fallen soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
This was also Chase's first metro ride, and it was definitely a highlight of the day!
We arrived early and were able to get a spot along the enterence to watch the dozens of semi trucks be escorted into the cemetery. There were so many police cars, military vehicles, motorcycles, fire trucks, and of course the big semi-trucks. Chase waved to every single one and got many horn beeps. He was thrilled!
We made our way up to our designated spot and also got a lesson in patience. Chase was NOT allowed to make this scared place his playground and had to have a few lessons in waiting.
Finally it was time and we, along with thousands of volunteers, took our time carrying wreaths to grave stones and saying thank you to our brave and fallen soldiers. It was an incredible day and a tradition we would like to continue every year.
