This is our story. It might not be exciting to some, but we think it is THRILLING... most of the time. Life is flying by too fast and this is our attempt to stop and capture the good nuggets in our lives. You may notice a trend in these posts... it may have to do with our favorite little nuggets currently sitting center stage in everything we do, think, and live.

Hope you enjoy and leave a comment or two!

Jackpot

Grantudy and Gramps came for a impromptu visit for the weekend!  We were so excited for the warm weather and St. Paddy's day fun.

We took lots of walks in the neighborhood while Chase showed off his impressive vocabulary, pointing our the cars, Tucks (trucks), air-panes, buur-dies (birdies), mo-mos (motorcycles), and every animal that lives on our block.  My parents are really enjoying actually communicating with him.

We ask him yes/no questions, or should I say "si/no" questions, since this is one of those times that he strictly speaks Spanish.  We gotta admit, we are totally smitten and proud to hear that little squeeky 18-month voice answer "si" when we ask if he wants to read a book, or have a cup of "agua."  It is such an incredible feeling to see him discover new things and understand us... and even more exciting to see him realize we understand what he is trying to say.

We spent the early mornings on the deck with jackets on, chasing bubbles.  As one of Chase's current favorites, it is hard to say no to "bubbles?" at 7:45 in the morning.  We are total suckers!

We also hit the park on a unseasonably warm St. Paddy's day.  Chase showed off both his climbing skills, and his big boy sliding technique.  He also visited the "Schooo ba" (school bus), frequently.... that is, a "school bus" that looks uncharacteristically like a fire truck. we're not big on details.

Dinner was green shamrock shaped raviolis that Grantudy "made" (bought from Costco).  And yes, pasta is still poison to this child.  My carb-loving brain fails to understand my son's complete and utter refusal to eat pasta.  So Chase had a Shamrock shaped PB&J after the tight-lipped rejection of delicious cheese filled pillows of love.

We ended the nights with post-bath, pajama walks through the neighborhood, a very new and very important tradition in the Homan house now!  This weekend's walk was capped off with a St. Paddy's shamrock glow stick which was impossible to pry from Chase's tiny hands and therefore accompanied him to bed.

This is the point that I would say we bid Grantudy and Gramps farewell and then reminisce about the perfect weekend and how lucky we are.  And yes, all of that is true.... but it really doesn't end there.

After Grantudy and Gramps smothered us in kisses and begrudgingly bid us farewell, I popped Chase in the car for a quick grocery run while Kevin did some chores around the house.  Chase was being so goofy and making me laugh, that I called out from the front seat "I love you bud."  And then I heard a tiny voice from the backseat say, "I love you Mommy."  Jackpot.  My heart exploded.

It was the perfect weekend.  We are the luckiest people on earth.
