This is our story. It might not be exciting to some, but we think it is THRILLING... most of the time. Life is flying by too fast and this is our attempt to stop and capture the good nuggets in our lives. You may notice a trend in these posts... it may have to do with our favorite little nuggets currently sitting center stage in everything we do, think, and live.

Hope you enjoy and leave a comment or two!

18 months --- A whole new ball game

Chase turned 18 months old this week.  As Kevin just asked me... "when do we stop counting the months," I was thinking about how fast our little nugget is growing up.  I am not ready to say out loud that he is "a year and a half old."  That kinda statement will all too quickly become "five and a half" and I am not ready for that.  So I told Kevin, for now, we keep counting the months.

-------------------------------------

Dear Chase- you are our wild little animal.  Your crazy curly hair matches your wild personality.  Your energy is boundless, as are your smiles, passion, and strength.  You love climbing onto the coffee table, conquered with a wide grin and a little laugh.  I let out a gasp when you do the same with the kitchen island.  You can scale those bar stools and jump on the counter before I can belt out "Chase, don't climb the---!"  You love to run and are usually quite coordinated (contrary to the "driveway face" nose scrape below).  You aren't the best eater and we usually get a bit of protest at dinnertime, either in favor of your favorite foods, or just because you aren't hungry.  People ask us where you get your energy from and I usually respond "I have no idea, he doesn't eat, he just run on naps and air (and a few cook-cooks).

Speaking of food, you do have some favorites.  You call animal crackers and graham crackers "cook-cooks" (for cookies), and you clearly ask for "yo-gert" and "nanas" with determination.  You'll eat hot dogs sometimes and once in a while a grilled cheese sandwhich.

You are still loving all things that move: trucks, buses, mo-mo's (motorcycles), and cars.  Every evening we take your trike for a ride as you cheer for your "Mo-Mo!"  Just about every big bus is a "SCHOOOO- BAAA" (school bus), including city buses and fire trucks.  I don't think you have grasped the "yellow" factor yet.  Likewise, your love of animals is almost as infectious.  You know so many animals and enjoy mimicking their noises.  If we are lucky, you'll also tickle your arm pits, while saying "Oooo Ooooo Ahhh Ahhh" for a monkey!  You also recently discovered Elmo through some books, so we showed him to you on TV and your head just about exploded seeing Elmo in all his singing, animated, famous, glory!

It is incredible to see you absorb everything going on.  You understand just about everything we say and sequence things very easily.  In the morning when I tell you we are getting ready for Nana's house, you run to get your shoes and socks and start naming all your friends at The Nest, "Addie, Iker, Isa, Ashley..."
You love your mommy and daddy and just recently gave us our first "I love you Mommy (and Daddy)"  which was about the most incredible feeling EVER!

-------------------------------------

So this week we took Chase to his 18 month doctor's appointment.  He waved at everyone and talked about everything we saw in the waiting room, so we were very caught off guard when he went into full melt down mode once we entered the exam room.  He was beside himself as we took off his clothes.  (the doctor said they "remember" the past visit at this point).  We were shocked to say the least.  He was also very happy during last visits.  But the strangest thing was that he begged for is "Baa-tos" (meaning Zapatos- for shoes).  So we popped his shoes back on this skinny, diaper-clad tot and he stated to clam down.  Too funny.

Skinny boy, scraped nose, wild hair, a diaper, and shoes.

The doctor said Chase is doing "GREAT"... hitting all his milestones and even had a height growth spurt.  He also found himself back on the weight growth chart after falling off it during his 15 month appt.

18 month stats:
Length- 33" (75%)
Weight- 22 lbs (5-10%)
Head- 19 1/4" (75%)
