We arrived at Kent Haven Saturday night ready to party. Someone was a little too ready to party, and after a brief nap in the car, Chase stayed up past 10 PM playing with Grantudy, Gramps, Aunt Anna and Uncle Aaron. Let the spoiling begin I guess.
The cousins got along great. We loved the baby coffee talk in their chairs almost every morning!
Sunday we spent the day watching the babies play, crawl, explore, and splash. Yes, there was lots of splashing on the Sassafras. We floated in the calm waves while the littles kicked and splashed in their whale floats. The weather and water were perfect!
The week was relaxing. We played, we ate, and we swam. Oh, and had way too many 'smores!
Monday and Tuesday Grantudy had sailing lessons down at the river. Since the class was made up of mostly 13-year olds, I walked down for moral support. 30 minutes later I had been talked into sailing with Grantudy in my street clothes. She was very nervous for her first lesson so I took the tiller and line and off we went. The wind was strong and the sailing was perfect. After about 2 hours of teaching G-tudy wind direction, tacking, and avoiding capsizing, I gave her the tiller. 20 minutes later we were in the drink. She capsized us. Needless to say I took the reins the rest of the lesson. Tuesday she did much better and I remembered my bathing suit.
Just for the record, I took Kevin sailing too. I did NOT give him the tiller. We did NOT capsize.
I left Grantudy on the beach with Chase.
Most of the days were spent soaking up the sun, family, and memories.
Truth be told, I get stressed. I want things to be perfect. I am not perfect. I struggle with knowing I am doing enough. Providing enough. Teaching enough. Being a good enough mom, wife, daughter, citizen. But this.... this I know was enough. My baby and I, making memories just us two...
Saturday brought regatta day. The beach area was turned into a fun carnival with food, rides, games and more. Grantudy and I made some cute cookies for the bake sale.
Before heading down to the fun, Chase needed one more round of peek-a-boo with the curtain. A new favorite.
Then we headed down to the beach play some games, eat some food, and enjoy the day.
It was a fun and relaxing weekend. And boy did we make memories...
