I must say, the trip sounded a little daunting at first. It was going to be a long trip to Cleveland and Columbus, and 9 hours in the car with a colicy baby was scary. However, Chase was asleep before we left Ashburn... it was a promising sign....
Since my Grammy has been in a nursing home, we don't get to see her a lot, so it was important that she get to meet her very first Great-Grandchild!
We drove to Cleveland and spent the night with my cousin Jamie. Chase was pretty well behaved considering the colic makes us weary of everything.
Wednesday morning we had a nice visit we Grammy. She was thrilled to see us, but of course Chase stole the show! Grammy has a lot of trouble saying his name, but there is was no shortages of "sweethearts," and "I love yous!"
She smothered him in kisses despite his squirmy-back-arching-colic-fits!
The trip was so special since we were sure if Grammy would get a chance to meet her grandchildren. Christmas was started off right....
After our visit with Grammy, we were off to Columbus to see Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Megan, Uncle Andy, and meet Great-Grandma, Great-Grandpa for the first time! What a lucky little nugget!
Chase was immediately smothered with kisses, hug, and tons of attention. Our hearts were full. I love how family, gathered at the holidays, just warms your heart!
Aunt Megan was first to "hog" the baby! She couldn't get enough of him and we were thrilled at how much love was surrounding all of us!
The next few days were filled with snuggling, soothing a very colicky baby, and a little extra sleep for mommy.
Grandma loved bundling Chase up and taking him for walks. The weather was mild and those two had great conversations on their walks....
When the colic fits came, Chase spent a lot of time in the swing trying to calm and sooth him into a blissful slumber. Great-Grandpa was very attentive to Chase's cries and did his iconic crazy dance to make him smile and laugh.... behind him, we were all smiling and laughing too. Love that man.
Chase also showed Grandpa and Grandpa all the cool things there were to play with on his play mat...
On Christmas eve, Grandma read Chase The Night Before Christmas. Chase was memorized and we knew it was the beginning of a tradition....
Chase got a bath in the kitchen sink so he would all ready to ring in his first Christmas.
Christmas morning came and there was extra excitement in the house as everyone knew it was a special occasion- Chase's first Christmas!
Merry Christmas to my incredible family!
Of course, this was the best gift we could have received. Thank you Chase, for choosing us.
