This is our story. It might not be exciting to some, but we think it is THRILLING... most of the time. Life is flying by too fast and this is our attempt to stop and capture the good nuggets in our lives. You may notice a trend in these posts... it may have to do with our favorite little nuggets currently sitting center stage in everything we do, think, and live.

Hope you enjoy and leave a comment or two!

Happy Halloween

Side note: This week started rocky with Hurricane Sandy blowing thought.  We hunkered down with Chase at home on Monday and Tuesday to ride out the storm.  Though we didn't lose power, we did take on water.  Specifically a leak in our roof that entered our bedroom and closet.  The same bedroom that had just been professionally painted that morning!  Oh well, we were safe and it can be fixed.  So many lost everything, as we head full steak towards Thanksgiving in less than a month, it makes me remember to be thankful every day for my family and safety.

Back to Halloween-- This is the first time Chase has really understood a holiday.  And by understood, I mean he is really into pumpkins, spiders, and of course candy.  We have been preping him for the big night for weeks now.  Grantudy bought him some books about dressing up for trick-or-treating and also a sing-song book called 5 Little Pumpkins.  He loves it, and screams the ending "and the five little punkins rolled out of sight!!!!"

We started the festivities night before with pumpkin carving.  Chase was thrilled to help daddy scoop out all the guys.  He said "I do it wit mah shovol."  We really wanted to to a Mater carving for his love of all things Cars, but it looks a little beyond our skills.... so we went with a little monster.  He was a hit.

After the "monstah" was carved we look him outside to show Chase the big reveal.  Chase was so thrilled that I could hardly get a picture of him.  he was a blurrrr, dancing around, screaming with delight.... oh, and singing happy birthday.  Yep, this kid sees a candle and he can't help himself.... he just starts singing happy birthday.  So.... after singing happy birthday to the pumpkin and blowing out the candle 4 times, we pried him back inside with a little pouting.

Don't worry buddy, you'll be able to light the pumpkin for a few more nights.

The next night was Halloween and buy were we were ready for the big night.  Chase even happily donned his construction worker costume, remembering his "ham-mah" and "scuuu dri-der."

Me: Chase, are you going to say trick-or-treat tonight?
Chase: no
Me: no?  Then what are you going to say
Chase: call me maybe?
Me: oh dear.

We were off to a rocky start.  Now, in Chase's defense, it is one of his favorite songs aside from itsy bitsy spider and wheels on the bus.  He requests it in the car all the time! haha

I was afraid Chase was going to be scared or too shy to trick-or-treat.  Boy was I wrong.  He ran to the doors to ring the door bell, happily (and thankfully) said trick-or-treat and thank-you for his candy.  He was THRILLED... and so were we!  It was so much fun.  There were kids everywhere and Chase ran to keep up.  He even pointed and happily said "that's a scary" to every vampire and skeleton that passed us on the street!  He was in his element!  I had a grin from ear to ear... mostly because he was so damn cute and polite!

We wrapped up the night back home with daddy (who quickly ran home after about 6 houses to man our candy).  Daddy and Chase handed out our candy saying trick-or-treat to everyone who came by!

What a great night and fabulous memory!  We are extra thankful this year!  Next year we'll have 2 little cuties running the neighborhood!
