This is our story. It might not be exciting to some, but we think it is THRILLING... most of the time. Life is flying by too fast and this is our attempt to stop and capture the good nuggets in our lives. You may notice a trend in these posts... it may have to do with our favorite little nuggets currently sitting center stage in everything we do, think, and live.

Hope you enjoy and leave a comment or two!

Potty Time

It was a big big weekend in the Homan House!  We potty trained Chase.  Yep, I am "going there."  This is a blog of all comings and goings of us Homans, and this is part of our life too.  So here is a quick and clean glimpse of that experience.

We have actually been dreading this.  Chase just didn't seem ready.  He didn't care about dirty diapers and when we actually mentioned to him about going pee pee in the potty like a big boy, he would reply, "not yeeeeet... soon, but not yet."

But, we have been so busy this summer that we had to take this opportunity at home for 2 weekends to just DO IT!

So Thursday I prepped.  I got tons of underwear, chocolates, and mini prizes from the party good store.  I said a little prayer to the toddler gods for mercy and we got started.  Friday on the way home from daycare, I must have talked up the potty so well that Chase wanted to get started right away.  So Friday night, he donned some undies and we got the carpet cleaner out and ready....

We were off to a great start.  Chase seemed to get it and though we only went 2 hours before slapping a diaper back on for bedtime.... we had multiple successes and were accident free.

Saturday went awesome.  We spent a lot of time asking him if he needed to go, but at least he was agreeable to trying to go and once even asked to go.  He had 1 accident, but seemed unhappy with being wet, so that was a good sign.  It was definitely a team effort and poor Whitney got a little less attention.  She seemed happy nonetheless.... super awesome baby like usual.  The funniest part was that Chase was insistent on wearing his underwear backwards.  The "character" on the pants was usually larger on the back and he really wanted it in front.  Of course his tiny butt fit fine in the reverse.  weirdo.  By the end of day 1, we were feeling pretty awesome with only 1 accident!!

Sunday was much the same-- awesome!  Actually, Chase seemed to refused to go potty at times, which we later learned that he truly didn't need to go.  He was holding it for a long time and then telling us he needed to go!  Super boy!  I pressed our luck and took him out for a "trip" to see if he could operate outside a 4-foot radius of our house.  Of course we went for ice cream and he was so excited.  Oh, and so proud.  He told everyone in the shop that he was a big boy with Cars underwear and then pointed to each person while telling me, "that boy (a 50 y/o man) is a big boy and goes pee pee in the potty."  Luckily everyone thought it was adorable.  We were accident free for the whole day!

Sunday night ended over two days of potty training.  Daddy and I could not be happier with how it went or prouder of our little "big boy"!  We had so much success and only one accident.  We are feeling great and fingers crossed that their immediate success continues!

Monday we got him dressed and rushed him off to Nana's with fingers crossed.  Nana was amazed and we bowed to the toddler gods in thanks for such as easy potty training boot camp :)
