The heat is here! Friday night we joined the Zienteks at the pool to cool off! I bought the boys some squirt guns which were pretty popular, but unlike last summer, Chase hardly clung to my arms... once I showed him how to propel himself (using a puddle jumper float), he was off. He would ask me to throw a pool noodle out and then work his little legs and arms in a drowning-bug-sort-of-way until he got to his prize!
This was the second year we went strawberry picking at a small family run farm. Even our boy who is not that into berries couldn't resist the warm, red, juicy, sweet berries! Honestly, these are the best berries we have ever tasted. As I have started to experiment with organic and "locally grown" produce, I have been made a believer that the taste is superior to any mass-produced, early picked, gross berries.
We linked up with a VERY pregnant Laura and her family on Saturday
morning. Chase wanted to make sure Colin stayed close as we picked.
Partially because he loves his friends and partially to steal his
strawberries!
Both kids were covered in red juice as we
picked, and "caught red handed" eating the fruit before we weighted and
paid for our bounty.
It was HOT! REALLY HOT! At 10am and only 30 mins of picking, we headed for the shade with a picnic blanket, snacks, and strawberries! It was such a fun morning.
The rest of the weekend we dodged the heat, playing inside, splashing water outside, and cooling off with some Sweet Frog ice cream.
Whitney took it all in stride with a smile on her face. Honestly, she is the easiest baby, happy to catch a ride in her baby bjorn or wiggle on a blanket in the shade. She is just a life-loving baby. Whit is smiling all the time now, cooing quite a bit, and determined to figure out how to roll over. Her brother loves her and is always making sure she has a toy, blanket, or whatever else he thinks she needs.
We are blessed.
